About The AwardsTFN Celebrates Inspiring Gambian Personalities
The TFN Heroes Awards, an initiative of The Fatu Network, is an annual awards event that honors inspiring personalities. The event recognizes individuals who work tirelessly and selflessly for their country and communities through their respective industries and initiatives. Individuals from different walks of life across all key sectors and from different segments of the wider society will be honoured.
11 Categories Identified
Eleven categories including Man of the Year and Woman of the Year will be identified for an award during the TFN Heroes Awards.
The Fatu Network Heroes Awards will be held on 14 March 2019 at the Coco Ocean Resort and Spa in Bijilo, The Gambia. The event will honour and recognize leading personalities who have rendered great service to The Gambia and to their communities. Categories totaling 11 have been identified by a seven-man independent awards committee.
The Fatu Network will also give out special awards to individuals in support of their various causes.
Nominations Open for TFN Heroes Awards 2019
The Awards Committee is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 11 categories. From Sunday 2nd February to Friday, 14 February, 2020, the general public can nominate any qualified person(s), groups or institutions for any of the categories.
Votings will be done via: ‘VOTE NOW‘ Button.
People can also drop off their nomination packages to The Fatu Network Office on Kairaba Avenue, opposite the American Embassy.
Once all nominations are received by the deadline, the Awards Committee will review all suggestions and narrow them down to a maximum of four candidates for each category. The winners will be unveiled at an awards night banquet to be held on 14 March, 2020 at the Coco Ocean Resort and Spa in Bijilo.
The TFN Heroes Awards is established by The Fatu Network, the leading online news provider in The Gambia. The Awards recognize and celebrate Gambians who have offered invaluable service to the country and to their communities.
The members of the Awards Committee where chosen by The Fatu Network. These individuals are apolitical and have been seen by The Fatu Network as able to demonstrate fair and unbiased judgement in assisting to recognize exemplary Gambians. Once identified, the committee works independently from The Fatu Network. The Fatu Network cannot make any decisions as to who should be awarded or not.
Anyone can nominate an individual or group they see fit to receive an award within the applicable category. Prior to the awards, there will be a brief period of time in which the general public have the opportunity to submit nomination suggestions based on the categories and criteria presented. From there, the awards committee will assess all suggestions and ultimately narrow it down to a maximum of 4 candidates for each category.
Determining Award Winners
Award winners will be determined by both the awards committee (60%) and general public (40%). Once the nominees for each category are finalized, there will be a public voting poll open which will feature the group/persons qualifications, work, and accomplishments. There are two methods of voting; an easily accessible online survey and AFRICELL SMS. All will be informed immediately when the polls are open, each individual can only vote ONCE.
Resolving a conflict of interest: If a member of the committee is directly involved with a nominee, they will automatically be excluded from nominating and/or voting in that category.
