AJ “Growher” Jallow

Ajola Jallow is a young female farmer in The Gambia. Ajola completed her education in the US, graduating with a degree in Economics from the Manhattan College. In 2015, she founded AJGrowher Africa, an agribusiness social enterprise. The enterprise’s mission is to produce professional grade career female farmers. Ajola believes that a modernised agricultural value chain is the golden employer that can provide dignified and financially rewarding career opportunities to all, especially to the most marginalised peoples of society. This mother of three now manages a seven-hectare large privately owned farm in The Gambia. The farm employs five permanent staff and over 30 on contractual agreements. Her farm currently supplies five top hotels, several popular restaurants and schools within The Gambia.
