Dr. Malanding Jaiteh
Dr. Malanding Jaiteh has a PhD in Forest Science with 40 years of experience in Forestry and Natural Resource Management. He spent 17 years as a Research Scientist and Lecturer at the Earth Institute at Columbia University in New York City. His work includes: “The Dynamics of Human-Induced Land Cover Change in Miombo Woodlands of SouthernAfrica,” “The Human Footprint and Last of the Wild,” and “The Atlas of The Gambia Project” which is an online resource for students and young researchers on the Gambia. Another of his online accessible works is “The Gambia Atlas of 2003 Population and Housing Census” (Link: www.columbia.edu/~msj42/Atlasof2003Census.htm). It does not end there as he also produced “Climate Change and Development in The Gambia: Challenges to Ecosystem services in the Gambia.” Dr. Jaiteh returned to The Gambia months after the change of government in 2017. He is now the Technical Adviser to the Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources with the added responsibility of Interim Project Manager of EbA and serves on the KMC Mayor’s Task force on GIS and Street Naming.
