Gina Bass, 24, is The Gambia’s first female Olympian athlete who continues to leave several landmarks for The Gambia internationally. Gina’s most celebrated success came in 2019 when she won the 200m race at the ‘All Africa Games’ in Morocco. She is dubbed the “fastest woman in Africa” in the 200m race category. Most recently, Gina has made several breakthroughs in the IAAF World Athletics Indoor games in Europe. In Lievin, France, she came first and broke another national record after clocking 7.11 sec in the women’s 60m final. In Düsseldorf, Germany and Mondeville, France, Gina won the 60m women’s finals respectively. As the All-Africa Games 200m champion, Gina currently holds the national record in the 100 and 200 metre races.
