Muhammed Sanyang “G-Farms”
Muhammed owns an agribusiness poultry farm – G-Farms/MBK – in Gunjur (Sambuya), West Coast Region. Mr. Sanyang, a graduate of the Startup Incubator Center, began working as an assistant veterinary technician with the National Agricultural Development Agency’s poultry unit even before he left school. Starting his poultry farm with just one member of staff, over the past few years, Muhammed has grown his business from 500 chickens to around 37,000 today. The G-Farms is considered the biggest layer farm in The Gambia with a production capacity of 2000 crates of eggs per day. Last year, Muhammed was paid a visit by President Adama Barrow who toured his facilities. G-Farms is not just addressing food security but also tackling unemployment. Today, it employs 70 young Gambians from all walks of life. Muhammed’s goal is to see the country become self-sufficient in poultry products and is demonstrating that with continuous expansion of his business.
