Omar J. Ndure received an International Diploma in Educational Planning and Administration at the National Institute for Education Planning and Administration ( New Delhi, India) 1991, British Council/Nuffield Foundation Fellowship UK 1992 for Senior educationists from Africa, Masters degree in Education Management and Policy University of Birmingham UK 1994 to 1996, Commonwealth Fellowship for teacher leaders with attachment at the Fulham and Hammersmith Education Authority (London) 2007. He taught as a teacher in the Primary, Secondary and High school level (Kerewan, Gunjur, Latrikunda LK, Farafenni) and tutored at the Upgrading Course of Unqualified Teachers. Principal at Farafenni Secondary Technical, Farafenni Senior Secondary and Greater Banjul UBS. WAEC examiner for Common Entrance Exams, GABECE for English, Civics and Social and Environmental Studies. President of the Gambia Teachers Union(1999 to 2009) raising the status of teachers , developing their professional efficiency , protecting the rights and welfare of children and teachers. Coordinated the Jolly Phonics approach of the Early Grade Reading Assessment program at the Ministry of Education 2009 to 2015 and worked with INSET in the synchronized EGRA using our National Languages in improving pupils’ reading abilities. Served on the National Advisory Council of Education that advises the Hon. Minister of Education on policy matters 2000 to 2016. In school governance, Chairman of Board of Governors of Kuntaya Senior Secondary and Kairaba Junior and Senior Secondary and Chairman of School Management Committee of BRUSUBI Lower Basic School. As a writer, co-authored 2 Social and Environmental Studies books for schools. Worked for Education International Taskforce on Early Childhood Education and Development 2008 to 2014 and developed ECE operational guidelines in Geneva 2012. Participated in developing curricula materials at the Ministry of Education as well as the past and current Education Policies of the Gambia. Currently, a consultant in Education management and Governance.
